Everything you need to know about giving to Means TV
Streaming services like Netflix or Hulu operate off of millions of dollars of venture capital money.
We started Means TV because we thought it was time to challenge that.
The Means TV streaming service will launch in early 2020 and will be entirely subscriber-funded. No shareholders, no venture capitalists, no advertisers — we answer only to our workers and our subscribers.
This allows us to be independent, and say whatever we want.
From March 21 — June, 1, 2019 we launched the Bread + Roses fundraiser publishing 30+ videos with the goal of raising $500,000.
We raised more than $100,000 (!!) during the fundraiser which has allowed us to begin building the platform and filming the first season of shows, albeit a bit scaled down.
We’re determined to bring Means TV to fruition by early 2020 so we’re leaving the fundraiser open in hopes of getting closer to that $500,000 before the end of the year.
The best way you can help this project become a reality is to be a monthly donor before the streaming service is live. Even if it’s $5/month, it helps us predict incoming revenue and ensure we can have enough capital to finish production of the first season of shows and movies.
How to become a monthly donor to Means TV
If you haven’t become a monthly donor yet, visit our Action Network page, click the donation amount and then select “reoccurring monthly”.
Every month you’ll get an email when your donation has gone through. You can cancel through Action Network at any time.
What if I selected “pre-subscribe when Means TV launches” when I donated?
If you chose to pre-subscribe to Means TV when you donated on the Action Network page, that means you’re on a separate mailing list and will have the first chance to access the streaming platform before anyone else.
You will not be automatically enrolled and your credit card will not be charged.
Donations are not tax deductible.
Becoming a subscriber once Means TV launches
The streaming service will be available in early 2020 for $10/month.
Those who have donated will be notified first when the service launches.
